Some new pics

Playing in one of Mom's cupboards- they had A LOT of fun!

The new view out of my kitchen window- the tree is gone now. When they cut the branches down, our house got a lot brighter! I also gained a view of badger road, and a mountain!

The girls hanging out outside with the kittens, Mikenzie dropped the one she was holding right before I took the picture, and the kitten took off. They love it outside! I am very happy to have a fenced in back yard to Let them loose!

This is what happens when you combine a spoon, yogurt and Mikenzie.

Kyleigh helping Mom make Lasagna!

Enjoying a little ice cream.

Mikenzie dropped her bowl on the ground, and I guess she was quite hungry- she jumped off her char, and proceeded to lick it off the floor.

The new bunk beds... and they are fast asleep! MiKenzie gets the bottom, and Kyleigh the top. they love the headboard- they can put all their "treasures" in it.

Mikenzie watched Dad work on the house, then took his hammer, and tried it on her toy... quite funny to watch her- complete with the tongue hanging out for added concentration!

: )

So, been busy again! : ) I finally have the house in order again. I totally cleaned out the girls room and spare room this week. We bought the girls bunk beds, so I moved out the crib and toddler bed, and Andrew and I set up the bunk bed. They love them! Mikenzie stays in her bed pretty good, and is so proud that she can get out by herself when she wakes up. I moved the crib and toddler bed into the spare room, and cleaned that out also. I threw a lot of stuff out- basically the entire house was packed in these two rooms throughout the reno's, and we finally have them back! The girls room has only kid stuff in it, and there is even room for toys! (Yay!) The spare room still has a few things in it that will need to be moved- we need to put shelving up in the living room first though. Needless to say, it's a huge relief to have that done now.
We have also continued to work on the house, Andrew has been putting the brick up behind the fireplace, the beam is stained, and just needs a small piece of trim around it, the computer is moved into the first noock (sp?) in the living room with a built in desk, and yes, we have fast internet! I have also been changing around pictures and stuff, getting a new feel in some rooms. We're excited anyway!
Andrew is working in Bellingham half of this week, and will be there for a month, so he leaves around 6, and is back home by 3:30! Very nice change! He came home yesterday, and put up another bucket worth of bricks- the fireplace will take a while yet. : )
I hope to get some pictures in order this week yet, I had a bunch developed, and need to write on them, and place them in an album. I can't wait to have shelving up, and have the albums on them for people to peruse. Makes having them developed worth it- I always think, why do I bother, they go in a book, and no one sees them!- hopefully that will change sooner rather than later.
Our animals are good, the goats keep eating, and the kittens keep growing!
Can't think of much else... Dirk and Sandy are getting married on March 6th, Kyleigh is the flower girl, and Andrew is a groomsmen, so we will be busy with that soon. then it's of to Barrhead for Jeff's wedding! Come to think of it, I better finish Ali's flower girl dress! I have to fix the crinoline, and make the sash and then it's done. I should also get our papers in order and finish filing taxes... that's a good task for this afternoon, I have two extra kids right now, so I will wait till they are gone. Alright, so I guess that's it for now! Karen

We're back!!!

Hey everyone, sorry it's been so long between posts! I have been busy, and with such a slow hook up, I never had time to sit and write... anyway, things around here have been going well, I am back to normal. The kids have been playing sssooo nice all week! Kyleigh finally figured out how to share, and play with Mikenzie. HSe used to freek out when Mikenzie came close to the toys she was playing with, and now when I put Mikenzie to bed for her nap, Kyleigh says- but I need to play with her mom! So needless to say, a big turn around! I have been able to get alot more done as a result! I have been going to bed alot earlier and with a clean house! Yay! Andrew is still getting up ealry and driving the 2 hrs to get to Granite falls. That job should be finishing uo soon though, and then I hope he's a little closer to homw so he doesn't have to get up at 3:30... wishful thinking!
I have been quite busy sewing things for people... I made a shopping cart cover for a friend, and have to make outdoor cushion covers for my sister in law this week. ANother friend asked me to make a slip cover for one of her chairs, so that should be fun. Oh another big thing!!! We are looking into getting satelite internet!!! We have been looking into it this week, and found what we think is a deel, so I thinkwe are going to be taking the plunge this week! And then maybe we can communicate with a web cam Mom! I'll let you know if it goes through or not. We really started looking into it b/c I waist so much of my time on the internet doing necessary thing (no just browsing around) and it gets quite frusrating when things don't load b/c the connection is too slow (we hook up at b/w 14.4 and 28.8 kb/sec) The satelite internet will be 56 mb/sec, so It sounds too good to pass up.

We had our family pics taken by Katrina a while ago. I think it was the beginning of december, and it was a VERY cold day- hence the hats and coats! Katrina's computer crashed and we thought the pics were lost, but the found them back, and we had to wait for them to get a new computer and edit the pics she took... long story short- She gave me the CD today, and I LOVE them! I will upload a few for you to see. I think I will send out a pic too via mail, since that was the plan with taking the pics.

A few weeks ago now, our area also had flooding. Our house was surrounded, our property was a lake, our neighbours evacuated, but we were ok! The shop had 8-14 inches of water in it (half is cement, other gravel) so we spent 2.5 hours getting everything off the floor, and up on the work benches. The shop WAS so neat, and now it's such a mess, but we don't want to put everything back where it "belongs" just in case we get lots of water in the spring- which is when it normally floods. I guess we will have to wait and see still.

Any way, I should get the kiddo's to bed- till next time...

Operation Update... finally!

So as you probably know, we had quite the exciting christmas!
I started having abdominal pain at 7 PM on Tuesday night, but thought it was indigestion, or something. It kept getting worse as the night went on. Andrew left for work at 4 am like usual, and I didn't fall back asleep. I waited for a decent hour to call the doctor, and when I finally got ahold of him (8 am), they told me to come in ASAP. Andrew called Rick (his brother) to drive me, and Kelsea to stay with the kids. Dr Dickson was pretty sure it was my appendix, so he called the hospital and arranged a cat scan, and a surgeon, so once we got to the hospital, it went pretty smooth. Rick left the hospital around 10:30 when I was admitted, Andrew came around 12 and at 12:30 I had the cat scan. (then I booted him out cause he had a Christmas party from work at 1, and it was boring in the hospital- I didn't even have a TV in the room!) The surgeon had told me that I was at the end of his list for the day, and it would be a looonnnggg day for me at the hospital, but as soon as they had the results from the cat scan (1:00), I was moved up to surgery and by 2:00 PM I was put under. I guess it must have been worse than they thought! Andrew was back when I woke up (around 3), and by 6:00 PM I was discharged! The pic of me was taken about 5 hrs after the surgery, when I was at home. I am doing okay now. I can't do much, Kyleigh had a sleepover with a friend last night, and Andrew will pick her up on his way home today. It's been an easy day today, so that's good. I can't do too much, the house definatly looks a little neglected- not a disater, but neglected. I'll tidy it up by the end of the week though! :)

I had Andrew pick up the girls right away (rick took them home with him) so we could have a good Christmas still. We had the girls open on gift the night they came home, and then the rest in the morning. They were quite excited, and Kyleigh kept saying "it's everybody's birthday!". It wsa cute. We explained to her that it's Jesus Birthday, but she was still quite confused as to why we had all these presents. Andrew bought a gift for us. He found a picture... I would describe it, but I added a pic of it for you to see. I LOVE it! It's about 16" tall, and 24 " long. Looks good on the wall too!
It snowed here quite a bit! We got b/w 18-24 " of snow! I have not been enjoying it though, and now it's been raining, and I hear there is supposed to be another snow fall soon, so if it freezes... it's gong to be quite the mess.
Well, I will leave you with a few pics, and by the way, I had done 6 loads of laundry the day before the surgery, and they are sitting there on the couch (es) on the pics... it's gone now though!

So, I wanted to post a pic of the quilt I have been making for our bed. The walls are the teal and dark brown, and I was told by alot of people that a black and white quilt would look good, so I went with it. I happened to bump into a lady who has been teaching begginer quilting, and she helped me pick out the material, pattern, and gave me alot of pointers. I was very glad I bumped into her. Here is a pic of one of the squares. I am scarred to get the top done, because I might get anxious, and slap the rest of it together... I haven't actually quilted a quilt together before, I only tacked them, and I actually want to get this one done right. I'm sure I'll get it all figured out!

So our week has been going great! We haven't had as much snow as they predicted, just ALOT of wind. I uess the bellingham, ferndale area got the snow, and we got the wind. Oh well, it sure is cold anyway. We took a pic of us in the snow, it was freezing, we were only out there for about 5 min, and were chilled to the bone!

Here is a pic of Kyleigh. She did a nose plant on the floor yesturday, and insisted on having one of "daddy's stickers" on it to help it feel better. I thought it was sssooo cute, and she was sssoooo sad, that I couldn't resist taking a picture! Well, I heve to head out to the shop and get more firewood in here, it really helps the furnace out, and I like the heat from the wood stove- it's sssooo cozy!
Anyway, I should go now, I have a ton of laundry to catch up on. We wish you all a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year, and may God continue to bless you in the year 2009!

Nothing much

Hey, so the snow kept Andrew home from work today... I guess it was more like the wind kept him home. He worked out in the shop, boarding up the windows, and playing on his quad. I worked at home, doing the usual, as did the kids. Here are a few pics from Thanksgiving. we had the deMooy side of the family over, I think it was 31 people in all, and it went very well! The kids wern't too noisy, and everyone seemed to have a good time. Anyway, I have to get going, but will be back later!

Another blog!

Yep, I started another one! I decided to make a blog that has all the things that I sell on it, making it easier for people to view, and locals to buy (hopefully!) The new one is karenssewing.blogspot.com Man I'm really getting into this thing hey?

So it was a busy week this week at the DeMooy household. I went out three times this week, and none of it was for christmas shopping! I had that done at the beginning of the month! The stores sure are busy with people! Frustrating when all you want is to buy groceries, and your stuck in a long line up. Next week is better, Jen hopes to come over on thursday, and hopefully sew... this is all weather permitting, cause I just got word (from Jen:))of freezing temps all next week, and lots of wind... scarry. We don't have a vehicle to go out in that kind of weather, so if it does happen I will be home all next week... which means more time to sew... no power failure please! Well, I need to tidy up the house, now, but I will leave you with a few pics. I made the girls each a tutu this week. They love to dance in them, which is what they are doing here. I will also upload a pic of the house last time we took a pic. Thats all for now!
